Outreach Development Worker
Balbir Kaur Nirwan
Hi I am Balbir Kaur Nirwan, the Black Development Agency’s Outreach Development Worker. My role is to provide support and advice to BME VCS organisations in Bristol to help them to access sustainable funding and develop skills and capacity to deliver projects more effectively.
Support can be accessed in the following ways:
One-to-one Information Advice surgeries: - Mondays & Wednesdays 1.30-4.30pm and Fridays 10am to 1pm. Advice is provided on preparing funding applications and developing proposals, how to develop realistic budgets, finding and researching appropriate Funders (GRANT FINDER sessions), and liaising with donors. Groups may require assistance to develop project specification detailing: aims, objectives, deliverables, outputs, budgets and timelines.
I co-ordinate the FANWOE (Funding Advice Network West of England) Network meetings. The network is a forum providing help, support and up skill to other funding advisors in the West of England, and provides up to date funding news and the opportunity to share good practice.
The role also includes representing the views of the voluntary sector to Funders, ensuring they are receptive to the sector’s needs and this will be done through supporting groups as referees, liaising with Funders on group’s behalf with application process and the annual Funder Fayre.
